Meet the Development Team

Jason Dawdy, Product Quality Manager
What are your responsibilities as the Product Quality Manager?
Primarily, my group is responsible for gameplay and bug testing. We provide feedback to development groups on gameplay elements as well as reporting any bugs or defects found. I can often be found stalking the halls like the Grim Reaper, except instead of a Scythe I wield a stack of bug and gameplay issues.

What is your background? What other games have you worked on in the past?
In the early 90's I worked as an SCO Unix Engineer. While the pay was good the job bored me to tears. Through a friend I found out about a job opening as a video game tester at Strategic Simulations, Inc. (makers of the old D&D gold box games and some great strategy games). The pay was considerably less, but I took a chance on it. Since then I have pretty much stayed in the game industry and came on board here at Mythic back in 2001. At that time, I was the In Game Support Supervisor for Dark Age of Camelot. Roughly a year later I moved over to Product Quality.

What was your "welcome to the game industry" moment when it hit you that you were really making games for a living?
I have two welcome moments. The first was back in 94 when I saw my name in the ingame credits for Great Naval Battles II. My "Welcome to the MMO industry" moment was at the launch of Dark Age of Camelot. We had such a great launch and it was just really exciting to see all of the people pouring into the servers.

What games are you playing right now?
I have a hefty backlog of games sitting at home, but right now Oblivion pretty much owns me. I love a good RPG and this one has sucked me right in.

What music are you listening to right now?
Well this is certainly going to date me… right now I have Iron Maiden, Slayer, and Dio sitting next to my CD player at the office. 80’s metal for the win!
