Careers – Artisan

In ancient times the High Elves were not the warrior race they are now. They lived an idyllic existence of study, craftsmanship and culture. It was during this time that the greatest of Elven architecture, literature, music, and art was created. During the great war against chaos much of this culture was lost forever in the flames of war. However the High Elven spirit persevered and the surviving craftsman became known as "Artisans" and strove to rebuild their shattered culture. These Artisans play a key role in Elven society tempering base emotions of hatred, lust and greed with a soothing counterbalance of serenity and calmness in everyday surroundings.

Artisan Specialty

The Artisans are pacifist preferring not to get involved with the toils of war. Instead they strive to calm and soothe the Elven spirit through fine art. Artisans spend decades studying the fine arts including; sculpture, music, and performance art. Each individual cultivates a talent or specialty creating his or her own instruments and tools over decades of practice. These tools are critical to their art and the loss of them can mean a setback of months or even years of progress.

Playing as a Artisan

As an Artisan you must avoid conflict, and protect the tools of your trade from destruction at the hands of the savage uncultured hordes of Destruction. To encounter a warrior can mean certain death and the potential loss of a lifetime's worth of work. While most artisans prefer to work in the safety of a well protected city, you will occasionally be forced out in the wild to discover new ways to enhance your art. Sculptors seek out deposits of fine clays, precious gems and fine marbles which they use to sculpt beautiful yet fragile works of art, these have no effect on a warrior's combat prowess but gazing upon one will touch you deeply in your very soul. Musicians seek out fine woods and animal gut to create instruments that play soothing melodies, known to instantly put the more cultured races into a restful sleep. Beware however for savage brutes like Orcs who become enraged upon hearing these melodies. Performance artists seek out new and interesting motions, mimicking reality in a silent and solemn dance.

Fighting the Artisan

Most warriors have nothing to fear from an Artisan and prefer to let them go about their business. However when approached with a particularly offensive piece of art, or a poorly written composition the best way to end the assault on your senses is with a well timed blow. Knocking the artisan unconscious only solves the problem temporarily; instead you must strike out at their tools or instruments to ensure that they cannot perform again.
